Seam · last updated 9 Oct 2026
this is everything seam saves about you, why it saves it, who can see it, how long it's kept and how to get it deleted. it's pretty long because i'd rather just list everything than be vague about it.
the short version
seam is a free, non-commercial deltarune fan bot, so there's no paid features and no ads, and your data is never sold or shared. it saves your game stuff (coins, items, passport, levels, progress) separately for each server, so one server can't see another server's data. it reads chat messages to run its games but it never saves what your messages say, and the shop game doesn't log ip addresses. you can ask me to delete your data from every server at once, and server managers can export their server's data whenever they want.
who runs seam
it's just me, melodistboko, doing this as a hobby, so any questions or requests go to [email protected]. seam is an unofficial fan project and it's not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by toby fox, the deltarune team, fangamer or materia music publishing. deltarune and its characters, art and music all belong to toby fox.
what seam saves about you in each server
almost everything is per server, so your wallet in one server is a totally different wallet from your wallet in another, and everything it saves is tied to that server's id and your discord user id.
it saves your coin balance and a history of every change to it (what it was for and when), plus your display name, your @username and a link to your discord profile picture so the leaderboards and the /levels image can show you, and those update when you chat. it saves the items you own, what you have equipped or pinned, any boosts you have running, and who owned each item before you. it also saves your passport xp and tier each season and the rewards you claimed, and your chat xp and level.
for games it saves your dungeon save and records, your duel results and duel settings, your minigame and event scores, streaks, jar contributions, request progress, your daily fortune card, your pipis egg and your /card settings. it keeps track of how much you earned today, and if the server turned on voice earning, how many minutes you spent in voice, which is literally just the number of minutes and never any audio.
if the server uses referral codes, it saves your code, who referred who, when the newcomer joined the server, how much they had chatted when they redeemed it, and which prize packs got paid, and to stop people farming it with alts it also checks the newcomer's account age, server join date and whether it's a bot. if you ask for a ping when your dungeon cooldown ends it saves that choice too, and that's the only time seam will ever dm you, and only if the server allows it.
it also saves the settings you pick, like opting out of earning, blocking trades, hiding your card or turning off seam's little comments about you, and message and reaction ids for a few features (like who grabbed a kromer grab), which is only the ids and never the text. if you choose to fill in a seam survey, your answers get posted to a private channel in my discord with your username, user id and server id so i can read them.
the shop game (discord activity)
when you open the shop game, discord asks you to allow identify, which gives the game your discord user id, your username or display name and your language, but not your email or your server list. then seam checks with discord that you're really in the server you opened it in, so nobody can spend coins in a server they're not part of, and while it does that it reads your server nickname and profile picture so it can show you in the game.
it saves a few things for each person: how many times you've visited, which talk topics you've heard, which day you last saw the intro so you get a new one every day, and a short record of your purchases so a double tap can't buy something twice, and those purchase records get deleted after 7 days. if you shop together with people, it saves who's in the shop right now (your name, picture and the game session), invites you sent or got, and group photo votes, and a group photo only gets posted in the channel if everyone in it says yes. who's in the shop gets deleted after 1 hour, and invites, events and photos after 1 day.
you get a signed login that lasts 2 hours and isn't saved in the database, and buying stuff in the game uses the same wallet and items as /shop in that server. no ip addresses are logged, there's no analytics, no tracking and no cookies, and the only thing it saves in your browser is whether you muted the sound.
what seam saves about the server
it saves the server's /settings, and an audit log of admin actions (who changed money, items or settings and when) that managers can read in /settings > data, which gets deleted after 1 year. before big admin actions it saves an undo snapshot, and those get deleted after 30 days.
it also keeps daily usage counts, which are just plain numbers like how many minigame rounds ran or how many times the shop game got opened, with no user ids and nothing about any one person. i use those to see what people actually use and what needs fixing, and they get deleted after 90 days.
if a manager asks seam to look at the last month while setting up the economy, seam reads up to 30 days of that server's messages once and counts who posted, when, and if each message was long enough to earn. it only keeps four server totals out of that: how many people chat most weeks, how many hours a day the regulars are around, how many messages they send an hour, and how many messages it looked at. no message text, names or user ids get saved, and the per person counts are thrown away as soon as it's done. once a month seam might also compare what members earned in total over the last 14 days with the shop prices and leave a note with those totals in the admin log channel, and it never names anyone.
what follows you to every server
your language (english or spanish) and whether you already saw the language prompt follow you everywhere, and so do any global badges i gave you by hand (like beta tester), plus the servers where you took one off. when you wear a global badge in a server, seam makes a matching role there and gives it to you, so other members can see it.
what seam does not save
it never saves what your messages say. seam has discord's message content permission because some things need to read what you type, like chat earning and levels checking that a message is long enough to count, minigames and events checking if you typed the right answer, the jar of shame watching for its number, and seam answering when you mention it. the text gets read, used for that one decision and thrown away, so it's never saved and never written to logs. a few games save the result instead of the text, like the number you guessed in lucky number or whether your answer was right.
it also never saves your email, ip address, real name, payment info or your server's member list, and seam doesn't use discord's server members intent.
what other people can see
other members of the server see whatever seam shows there, so that's leaderboards (with names and profile pictures), your /card if you don't hide it, items you showcase, level ups (your name, no ping), event and weekly dungeon results, completed requests, referral thank yous ("x referred y"), group photos everyone agreed to, and coins or items a manager gave you or took from you, but never your balance. seam also sometimes brings up public stuff about you when it replies, like the boss you just beat, and /optout what:notices turns that off.
that server's managers can see and change the server's seam data, read the audit log and download the export. i (melodistboko) can see everything so i can run and fix the bot, and i can also do anything a manager can do in any server for support and moderation, and those actions get marked in that server's audit log. i can also reset a server's seam data (there's more about that under server reset backups below).
discord handles everything that goes through it under its own privacy policy, and seam and its database run on a private server i rent from oracle cloud in canada southeast (montreal). other than that it's nobody, seam's data is never sold, rented, traded or shared, and there's no ads.
logs
seam writes technical logs so i can fix problems, and they have ids (server, channel, user) and what happened, but never message text, tokens or ip addresses. each part of seam only keeps its newest 30 mb of logs, which is usually a few days to a few weeks, and older lines get deleted on their own.
when the same error keeps happening, seam sends a short alert to a private channel that only i read, with which feature broke, the error type, how many times it happened, an error id and the server ids, and never message text, user ids or tokens. those error counts get deleted after 7 days.
why seam saves any of this
only to run the game, so your stuff is still there tomorrow, leaderboards work, prizes get paid once, cheating like duplicated money can get caught, and managers can see and undo admin mistakes. none of it is used for ads, profiling or anything outside seam.
how long it's kept
game data and the coin history stay for as long as the server keeps seam, and the coin history isn't deleted on a timer because it's how every balance gets checked. when seam gets removed from a server, everything for that server gets deleted 30 days later in case it was a mistake. a couple of servers are marked "protected" and never get deleted automatically, which are seam's home server and the old seam bot's server, but a deletion request from someone in those servers still counts.
the audit log is kept for 1 year. undo snapshots, cancelled duels and finished duo dungeon runs are kept 30 days, weekly dungeon challenges 4 weeks after the week ends, and jar reaction marks and daily usage counts 90 days. shop game purchase records and error alert counts are kept 7 days. for shopping together it's 1 hour for who's in the shop and 1 day for invites, events and photos, and dungeon duo invites are deleted 1 day after they're answered. technical logs work like i said in the logs part.
if i reset a server, seam saves a full backup of that server's data first in case it was a mistake. it's kept privately on seam's server, and when it's small enough it also gets attached to a private reply that only i can see. it isn't deleted on a timer and the delete command can't reach it, so if you ask me to delete your data i take you out of these by hand.
there's also a full database backup once a day that's kept for 14 days, and copies of those are kept off the server on my own computer for up to 30 days. the files from the old seam bot are kept by me as a private, read-only archive that's never shared or published, and a deletion request takes you out of that too, but i do that by hand so it can take a few days.
deleting your data
if you want everything about you gone from every server, email [email protected] with your discord user id or ask in my discord, and i run one command that deletes your wallets, coin history, items, passport, levels, game progress, referrals, shop game data, settings, survey answers and global badges in every server, deletes finished duels you played in, and takes your name off saved season top 3 results. it keeps other people's history (like an item's past owners or an audit log entry) but swaps your id for a blank, so it doesn't point to you anymore.
if you're in the middle of a duel it waits until that duel is done, and a global badge's role comes off the next time seam sees you in that server. surveys you already sent were posted as discord messages, so i delete those by hand. moderation records (like a block from using seam) are kept, so nobody can undo a block by asking for deletion. backups age out on their own, so daily backups are gone within 14 days and undo snapshots and my off-server copies within 30, but server reset backups don't expire, so i clean you out of those by hand.
if you just want to stop earning in a server, use /optout in that server. if you're a server manager and want to wipe your whole server, remove seam from it and everything gets deleted 30 days later, and if you want it deleted right away just email me, because there's no button for that so i do it by hand.
getting a copy of your data
server managers can download their server's data from /settings > data > export, which is a signed file with the server's settings and every member's seam data in that server. if you're a member you can ask your server's managers, or email me for a copy of your own data, and since there's no button for just one person's data i put it together by hand.
kids
seam follows discord's age rules, so you have to be old enough to use discord where you live (13 in most countries, older in some). seam never asks your age and doesn't collect anything beyond what's on this page, and if you think a kid under discord's minimum age has data in seam, email me and it'll get deleted.
security
the database can only be reached by the bot on the same private server and not from the internet. secrets like the bot token only live on that server, and each part of seam only gets the ones it needs. backups have member data in them, so they're kept private too.
changes
if any of this changes, the new version goes up here with a new "last updated" date, and big changes also get announced in my discord.
